Purple Passion Nails Of The Moment

Here is another notm. I used Orly's Frolic. Frolic is part of Orly's Happy Go Lucky collection. Frolic is a deep lilac pastel. Here are swatches:
The application of this nail polish was really good kinda like butta! It only needed two coats. As usual I got three days of wear. On a random side note I bought this new top coat {it has no name} which will hopefully increase the wear time I experience with nail polishes. The only flaw I can find to it is that it is really dense, which makes it tricky to use. What is your favorite top coat?

How To Use Up An Unpigmented Eye Shadow & Make A New Nail Polish Color

Recently I watched a youtube video on how to use up old cosmetics or products which you did not like. Here is a link to the video: JoshCollierMUA. So here are some tips on how to use up a eye shadow which does not have really good pigmentation. One of the first things to do to try to make the eye shadow work is to use an eye shadow primer. If the eyeshadow still does not show up then I suggest scraping the surface a little with a spoolie to see if it is just a problem that is on the top. If the eye shadow is still not living to your exceptions then you can just scrap some and apply it like that. You can also try to apply the eye shadow wet. If it still is not working & you still want to use it up somehow I have another little trick. Use it to make a new nail polish color. The best part it is really simple. Here is what you will need:
1. White Nail Polish (must be white)
2. Eyeshadow (can also be a pigment)
3. Tooth Pick or something to break the eyeshadow
The eyeshadow I am going to be using is from NYX in the shade Hot Green & a little of MAC Sassy Grass (I shattered this by mistake). Here is a swatch of the eyeshadow:
First you need to crush the eyeshadow and try to make sure there are no big chunks. Basically crush it as fine as you can. The reason this is important is because it will apply kinda chunky to the nail if it is not crushed enough. (I should have crushed this eyeshadow more)
Then you just need to transfer it to the white nail polish. 
It must be a white nail polish. If you are to try it on a clear nail polish the eyeshadow will just settle to the bottom. Lastly shake the nail polish & viola you have a new nail polish color. Here is a swatch of my nail polish:

Grey Tone Nail Of The Moment

This is another NOTM. I am using Essie in Playa Del Platinum. This is what it looks like:

It is a dark beige with a grey undertone. This is three coats. I ended up wearing it for three days. One thing I liked about this nail polish was the brush was kinda small which is good for all my nails but my thumb. Since I really liked using this one I tried using Essie in Sand Tropez, which to my surprise I totally ended up hating. It was really sheer and needed four coats. I really like beige nail polishes so I might give it a chance again. What are your favorite nail polish colors to wear?

OPI vs Bettina (Comparison, Review & Swatches)

My last post was showing Bettina in Flip Flops {Resort Collection}. It is a dark lilac and reminded my boyfriend of OPI's Planks A Lot {Pirates Of The Caribbean}. So this is going to be the comparison of these two nail polishes.

Here is a comparison of the nail polish bottles together.

Bettina is on my ring finger, while OPI is on my middle finger
Formula: One difference I noticed with OPI is that it was not as opaque as Bettina. I needed three to four coats of OPI Planks A Lot for it to really show true to bottle. Bettina Flip Flops on the other hand just needed two in order to even the color out. 
Color Comparison: Even though both these nail polishes are in the same color family their is a noticeable difference. As you can see Bettina Flip Flops is darker than OPI Planks A Lot. For those wondering Bettina retails around $2.00-3.00 ($2.26 in walmart) while OPI retails around $8.50.
Recommendation: I really like both shades so I would definitely buy them again. But if you do not like having to put multiple coats for a color to show true to the bottle I suggest you skip out on OPI Planks A Lot and get Bettina Flip Flops. If you would prefer a lighter lilac then I would suggest OPI Planks A Lot. While if you want a dark lilac I would suggest getting Bettina Flip Flops.
